Bunbury 4x4's Lindsay Allan with his Dealer of the Year 2017 award
BHR Papalia are proud to partner with numerous local businesses who are excelling in their industries and making an impact on their communities. This month we would like to spotlight Bunbury 4x4, a local business that has started off their year with a great piece of professional recognition.
Tell us a bit about Bunbury 4x4?
Lindsay Allan and Donna Read started Bunbury 4x4 in 2014, dealing in Four Wheel Drive suspension and accessories.
“I’ve always been into the automotive and Four Wheel Drive industry. I grew up in it, and spent my hours after school in Dad’s workshop, mostly sweeping the floor,” Lindsay said.
“We’ve always done our fair share of adventuring, and seen a great deal of this country. It’s fantastic,” he said. “There’s so much people miss out on by staying in the big smoke. It is a passion. It’s certainly a varied industry - a lot of people treat it as a hobby and a weekend sport, then you get the retirees and grey nomads, and then you’ve got the businesses that have vehicles they need kitted out for their work.”
This is Ironman’s 60th year. The company has been in the country since 1958, after starting off as a suspension company.
“Gunter Jacob, the founder of the company, fled Germany in the second world war, and he set up what was to be known as Jacob’s Springworks in his back yard in Melbourne,” Lindsay said.
What do BHR Papalia do for you?
“BHR Papalia came on board with us at about this time last year,” Lindsay said.
“In the last 12 months, including engaging BHR Papalia, we’ve had a complete restructure in the way we do things. Kiko has been fantastic in his diligence and advice, basically getting our financial side of the business back on track. He’s always accessible. We’ve grown so fast that we haven’t been able to monitor things properly, but he’s been able to get us to the point where we’re able to make more informed decisions in moving the business forward.”
What have been your biggest achievements or highlights from the past 12 months?
“Our biggest achievement in the last 12 months would be winning `Dealer of the Year 2017 Western Australia’, in recognition of tireless work in developing the Ironman 4x4 brand in our region,” Lindsay said.
“This was a bit of a surprise – we didn’t even know they had an award.”
Lindsay and Donna found out about the award on January 6, at the speedway.
“We had the Ironman crew come down from Perth, and we took them to the speedway as a bit of a thank you,” Lindsay said.
“They presented us with the award there. It was a great way to start the year.”
The BHR Papalia team wish Lindsay and Donna all the best for the coming year, and look forward to continuing to work with them to help their business go from strength to strength.
