Moustaches for Movember: Hugh McDonnell, Nicholas Hodgins, Dom Papalia, Reon Tither, Justin Golds, Mitch Oliver, and Kiel Jackson
Movember is the leading charity aimed at changing the face of men’s health globally.
They are raising funds and leading studies and research into three key areas of men’s health:
Mental Health & Suicide Prevention
In the past, a few of the guys here at BHR Papalia have grown a random mo or two during November, but we’ve never taken it on as an office to work towards raising money and getting more of the team involved. This year, seven of our guys stepped up and grew a mo, despite the weird looks they kept getting during the month!
Six of us decided to take on the “Move for Movember” challenge, which is to move 60km during the month of November in recognition of the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world. So far we have clocked up 441km!
It’s been great and very rewarding to see the team push themselves to reach their 60km target, and I think a few of us will keep up the routine and increase our physical fitness because of this challenge.
We initially set ourselves a target to raise $1,000. We quickly reached that goal, so we extended the target out to $3,500 to throw out a challenge to our friends, family and colleagues. As of November 28, we have raised $2,072.
Movember for us has been a bit of fun and good for a laugh. It’s also been a great opportunity to come together as a team, support and encourage each other to step outside of our comfort zones, all while raising awareness for a great global cause.
